The Doctors' Exchange provides answering service solutions

24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year. We are always open including all holidays, natural disasters and pandemics. Trained agents with appropriate quality control stats earn the privilege of working at home for 80% of their shifts. At least one weekly shift must be worked at the Covington call center. Training occurs only at the call center.

Morning Shift (may start as early as 6AM)

4-5 days/week, 8-10 hour shifts including one weekend day.

Evening Shift (may end as late as 11P or 12A)

4-5 days/week, 8-10 hour shifts including one weekend day.

Midnight Shift

3-5 nights/week, 8-12 hours shifts including one weekend night.

There is a three step process that our telephone operators follow on all calls:

Answer the phone
with a smile.

Take accurate and complete messages per our customers' instructions.

Deliver the message timely to the Doctor or person on-call.

Telephone Operator Requirements:

  • Dependability - Operators absolutely cannot miss their scheduled work shifts. It is important that we have enough experienced operators on duty at all times.
  • Personable - We insist on a pleasant work environment. Teamwork and cooperation are essential.
  • Telephone Personality - Operators must be courteous at all times to all callers.
  • Grammar - Operators must use proper grammar and spelling. Because 75% of our clients are medical in nature, there is no margin for error when communicating in emergency situations.
  • Computer Knowledge - Operators must be familiar with Windows.
  • Typing Skills - Operators must type 50 words per minute minimum.
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Our friendly workplace is drug and alcohol free. Candidates must accept random drug testing as a precondition for employment.

Operator's pay:

Telephone Operator Pay Approximate Duration Location
Level 1 - $13/hour 4-5 weeks from date of hire Covington Call Center
Level 2 - $13/hour 2-3 months from date of hire Call Center/Upon approval, work at home granted.
Level 3 - $14/hour 3-5 months from date of hire One call center shift weekly, the rest at home.
Level 4 - $15+/hour 5-8 months from date of hire One call center shift weekly, the rest at home.

The Doctors Exchange always "promotes from within" meaning that as new positions come available they are offered to current employees. We promote our Telephone Agents to these new positions instead of seeking new employees from outside the company. Some of these additional paid job opportunities are:

Benefits:

  • Health insurance: Provided by Blue Cross / Blue Shield. We pay 50% of the employee's premium.
  • Dental insurance: Provided by MetLife. We pay 50% of the employee's premium.
  • Personal Days: After one year of full-time employment you earn two weeks (10 days). After two years of full-time employment you earn three weeks (15 days). Personal days may be used for vacation, illness, other personal needs or may be cashed in if needed or unused.
  • Holidays: Some holiday work is required as we operate 24/7/365. Doctors Exchange pays time-and-one-half for seven annual holidays.
  • Overtime: OT is offered on a regular basis at time-and-one-half of regular pay.
  • Christmas Bonus.
